The rain had just stopped and the clouds cleared just as we pulled up to the National Stud. We had the opportunity to see the bones of the famous Arkle who was once stabled at TLC Straffan! As we were walking around we came across a farrier working on equipment for horses, who very kindly allowed us to watch him work. Austin was particularly fond of the tiny Falabella horse called Bart, while Joe and Kitty made friends with a former famous racehorse who also took a shine to our residents. The day was topped off with a visit to the Japanese Gardens which were so beautifully kept and the scents of all of the different flowers was beautiful.
