We had a very enjoyable morning as special guests of the Newcastle Ladies Club at their celebration of the women of 1916. One of our residents Ellen Fox from 2nd Floor was honoured as Newcastle’s oldest Lady; she will turn 100 next January. She was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers to mark the occasion. A wonderful celebration followed this with the women of Newcastle taking on the characters of that era and doing readings, poems, songs and dances connected with it. They were also joined by the 4th class pupils who showed us some of the games that would have been played by the children of the time. We all had a great time and a big thanks to everyone involved for the kind invitation.
